The Leiria region is one of the central regions of Portugal, encompassing an area of 3,515 square kilometers and a permanent population of approximately 480,000. Leiria City serves as the capital of this region and is situated in the west-central part of Portugal, bordering the Atlantic Ocean. The Lis River flows through the city. Leiria City itself covers an area of 565.09 square kilometers and has a resident population of around 130,000. It boasts prosperity and wealth alongside a rich historical heritage; its most renowned monument is the Leiria Castle. Additionally, it functions as a transportation hub for all of Portugal due to its proximity to other urban centers such as Entroncamento, Tomar, and Torres Novas. It lies about 136 kilometers from Lisbon, the capital city, and approximately 170 kilometers from Porto.

In 2004, Leiria was selected as one of the host cities for the European Cup. By 2022, it had earned recognition as one of the best cities in the world for entrepreneurial development. Leiria primarily engages in light industry, trade, tourism, and real estate development. As a renowned ancient city in Portugal, it boasts a history spanning nearly 1,000 years. The city is home to numerous points of interest. In addition to its medieval castle and Romanesque architecture, visitors can explore the cathedral built during the Renaissance period. These sites contribute to its appeal as a scenic tourist destination. Furthermore, Leiria is known for its rich grape production and possesses advanced food processing and ceramic technology capabilities.
