Pinsk City is situated on the banks of the Pripyat River in the Brest Region, located in the southwestern part of Belarus. It lies 180 kilometers west of Brest and has a population of approximately 150,000 residents. Pinsk City serves as a small industrial hub and plays a significant role as a local river port and railway station.

Pinsk City primarily focuses on light industries such as knitting, artificial leather production, and linen processing, along with wood processing and shipbuilding. The Pinsk Marsh, where the city is located, is one of the largest wetlands in Europe. As a result, it plays a key role in land irrigation and soil improvement in Belarus, home to a dedicated institute for soil enhancement planning.
