On the afternoon of September 27, Xiangyang and Osogbo, Nigeria jointly held an online signing ceremony for establishing sister city relations. With Wang Taihui, mayor of Xiangyang, and Sahid, mayor of Osogbo, signing the Agreement on Establishing Sister City Relations between Xiangyang, Hubei Province of the People's Republic of China and Osogbo, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Osogbo became the first official sister city established by Xiangyang in Africa.

Osogbo, located in the western part of Nigeria, is the capital of Osun State and an important power supply center and art and culture center in Nigeria. Since 2013, Osogbo and Xiangyang have signed a medical cooperation agreement to carry out exchanges and cooperation. Over the years, the two sides have sent medical staff to each other to carry out normalized cooperation and exchanges, held medical science and technology training, achieved a series of achievements and accumulated a profound friendship.

Through the successful online signing ceremony, the two sides have further narrowed the distance between people’s hearts and opened a new chapter of deepening friendly cooperation. The two sides will further promote the “spirit of friendship and cooperation between China and Africa” and build a brand project of medical and health cooperation between China and Africa based on the exchange of doctors. At the same time, taking sister city exchanges as a link, the two sides will carry out pragmatic cooperation and share development opportunities, become promoters and disseminators of China-Africa traditional friendship, promote the high-quality development of Belt and Road and make new contributions to building a community of China-Africa destiny in the new era.
