Introduction to La Paz

La Paz is the capital city of the Mexican state of Baja California Sur and the fourth largest municipality. It covers a total area of about 20,275 square kilometers and has a population of about 220,000. Its economy focuses on food industry and fishery.

La Paz is a beautiful city and is situated on Baja California Peninsula (or California Peninsula). Southern California became a quasi-state in 1888 and a state on September 24, 1974. La Paz is the capital city of the state of Baja California Sur. It is inferred from Neolithic murals discovered there that human had lived there early 10,000 years ago. The Isla Espíritu Santo group, which borders the northeast portion of the Bay of La Paz, is the primary tourist destination of the area as it is quite suitable for underwater activities such as diving and snorkeling.
