This recognition is attributed to its remarkable achievements in smart city development and the market-oriented advancement of data elements. Notably, this accolade marks Xiangyang’s second consecutive honor following its receipt of the “China’s Leading Smart City” in 2024.

The Asia-Pacific Smart City Awards, jointly initiated by the State Information Center and ADG, aim to commend benchmark cities and outstanding enterprises that have made exceptional contributions to the development of smart cities. By showcasing representative success stories and leading service providers, the program offers valuable experience and models for cities across the region. The event convenes government authorities, smart city planners and administrators, renowned experts, and entrepreneurs to discuss industry trends and provide suggestions for the high-quality development of smart cities.

Focusing on intelligent manufacturing, smart communities, smart healthcare, smart education, smart finance, and other key areas, Xiangyang harnesses advanced technologies such as big data, cloud computing, 5G communications, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, the Internet of Vehicles, digital twins, and blockchain. By strengthening its digital infrastructure and building a “universal socket” for developing Digital Xiangyang, Xiangyang has established standardized and systematic support for government services, social governance, market supervision, and other applications.
