Early in the morning of June 6, the Xiangbailin Family Farm in Banqiaodian Town, Yicheng City, Xiangyang, Hubei Province, was already bustling with activity. Branches were laden with bright red Chunli honey peaches, while visitors carrying fruit baskets wandered through the orchard, enjoying the experience of picking fresh fruit.

Cheng Hongwei, the person in charge of the farm, told the journalist that sales have remained strong since the farm’s 300 mu of peach orchards entered the harvest season. This success is attributable to the upgrading of peach varieties, as well as the adoption of digital water-and-fertilizer management and environmentally friendly pest-control technologies. As a result, the peaches feature delicate flesh and abundant juice, making them highly popular with consumers as soon as they reach the market.

It has been reported that since the opening of this year’s peach harvest season, the farm has shipped an average of 50,000 to 60,000 jin of fresh peaches per day to destinations across China via cold-chain logistics. The farm’s output value is expected to exceed 1 million yuan this year. In addition, the farm helps local growers market their peaches, handling average daily sales of around 100,000 jin.

It has been reported that Banqiaodian Town has a total fruit-growing area of 60,000 mu, and the fruit industry has become a distinctive sector driving local income growth and prosperity. In recent years, the town has continuously improved fruit varieties, applied scientific management techniques, and promoted a balanced combination of early-, mid-, and late-ripening varieties, breathing new vitality into this traditional industry. By adopting staggered planting schedules for different varieties and harvesting fruit in batches, local growers have not only avoided price competition caused by concentrated market arrivals but have also extended the supply season for fresh peaches, enabling farmers’ incomes to continue rising year after year.
